One of the best methods for High Performing Teams in the workplace is creating trust. And building a team at work through trust is practicing some of those good manager qualities that come from the experience with installing a operating-system that involves standard work practices.

Obviously, just installing a os that has standard work practices is not the only way to creating a team at work, but is really an important part in developing a team on the job. It is one of those manager qualities that many bosses avoid at all or has maybe ever known about it. Are you currently using written standard work practices among your great manager qualities in building a team in the workplace? One of the ways this helps in creating a team at work is when the boss has proven standard work practices that yield error free work most time; they won't be hanging out attacking people which automatically create mistrust between your boss and the subordinate.

Most likely any boss becomes pretty frustrated when being forced to constantly correct people for the similar mistakes? Most of us have gone through that. Obviously, attacking people for mistakes quickly tears down trust. Instead of spending time attacking people or correcting people, perhaps it would be so much safer to spend time helping people improve. So, spend your time encouraging and helping your people enhance their work with possible ways. As work improves, document the improvement and continue this process over and that is a sure way of building a team in the workplace, creating more and more trust and much better quality work. Consider all the extra work that could be saved by eliminating errors and having to track down problems.

Each time a better method of doing the work is discovered, document it; praise your people and automatically you'll begin building a team at work and begin developing trust. But if errors do occur, the first thing you should do is check the work being performed against the documented standard work practice to ascertain if the work is at error up against the work standard or as a result of something else. Solving problems in this way is so far more efficient plus it just continues developing a team at work. It really does reduce your time to resolve problems. While you involve your individuals improving their job methods, they are going to continue to improve and equally important it improves trust. Your individuals will then see you as a helper rather than an attacker. Find out how this develops trust and makes positive impacts in creating a team at work?

38 of my 41 years were in management and leadership roles. Every one of the years in those various positions offered great opportunities for leading, teaching, training, and on the job support for empowering managers and workforces. Environments were created that made it feasible for people to reach levels of success they never experienced. Success came as a result of use of real leadership, lean principles, employee involvement, a trusting environment, good communication, continuous improvement, and solid operating systems. The results were people going after an error free workplace, waste reduction, and a very positive attitude toward meeting goals and expectations. I believe strongly that you can't motivate people but that the right environment is exactly what motivates people.
