So where did this simple, mouth watering meal originate? Invented in Turkey in the 18th or 1800s, doner kebab means “rotating grilled meat.” In the event it was unveiled in Greece, the locals referred to it as “gyros,” the Greek word for “turn.” Likewise, in the event it spread through the Middle East, it was called “shawarma,” an Arabic word for turning. Origin from- Shawarma, like gyros, hails from it. Shawarma was brought to Mexico by immigrants from your Middle East, where it evolved in the early 20th century.
How's it prepared? Shawarma is ready from thin cuts of seasoned marinated lamb, mutton, veal, beef, chicken, or turkey. The slices are stacked on the skewer about 60 cm (20 in) high. Lamb fat could be added to provide extra fat for juiciness and flavor. A motorized spit slowly turns the stack of meat facing a heating element, continuously roasting the outer layer. Shavings are cut off the rotating stack for serving, customarily using a long, sharp knife
